Apple is preparing to expand support for digital identification, with state IDs and driver's licenses in Apple Wallet coming to three new states in the near future.

The feature enables iPhone and Apple Watch users to store a digital version of their official state-issued driver's license or identification card directly in the Wallet app. Users can then present their digital ID seamlessly and securely using NFC or by scanning a QR code at select TSA airport checkpoints and participating businesses.

Because state-level infrastructure, legislation, and integration requirements vary, the rollout of digital licenses has been gradual since Apple first launched the capability. Adding three more regions marks another step forward in Apple's push to replace physical wallets with secure digital alternatives.
