Apple is preparing to broaden the reach of its digital Car Key feature, enabling more drivers to unlock, lock, and start compatible vehicles using an iPhone or Apple Watch.

According to a report from 9to5Mac, the Wallet app integration is coming soon to three popular automobile brands. While Apple has gradually expanded the feature since its initial debut, adoption across major automakers has remained relatively limited until now.

Car Key leverages technologies like NFC and Ultra Wideband to deliver a secure, keyless experience. Depending on vehicle compatibility, users can simply approach their car to unlock it without removing their iPhone from a pocket or bag, and digital keys can also be shared easily with others.
