Qualcomm is reportedly adjusting its silicon strategy for its future flagship lineup. The chipmaker plans to divide its 2026 Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 processor into two separate tiers to better address varying performance needs across upcoming Android devices.
According to reports, the lineup will feature a standard edition alongside a more capable "Extreme" model. The standout hardware difference highlighted for the Extreme variant is a notable 50% increase in shared memory, designed to handle more demanding computing workloads.
While Qualcomm has previously released tweaked or higher-clocked versions of its flagship processors, formalizing the release into two distinct tiers could give smartphone manufacturers more options for segmenting their premium flagships.
