WhatsApp for Android is reportedly working on a new capability that could allow users to read incoming messages secretly without sending the familiar blue tick read receipts.
Under the current system, avoiding read receipts generally requires users to disable the feature entirely within their privacy settings, which also stops them from seeing when others have read their messages. A dedicated option to browse chats discreetly would provide a much more convenient middle ground.
While details on the exact implementation remain limited, this potential change highlights ongoing efforts to refine messaging privacy and user control on Android.
